Manually adding an Exchange account to Outlook

This article provides a step by step guide to manually addingh an Exchange 2013 account to Outlook 2013.  Before you begin, you must ensure you have all the settings required.

Introduction

This article provides a step by step guide to manually addingh an Exchange 2013 account to Outlook 2013.  Before you begin, you must ensure you have all the settings required.

Before your begin

You will need to ensure you have the following settings before you begin:

  1. Your E-mail address.
  2. Your username.
  3. Your password.
  4. The name of your Exchange server.
  5. The address of your Exchange "proxy" server.

If you do not have all of the settings please contact us before continuing.

Manually adding an Exchange 2013 account to Outlook 2013

On starting Outlook you will either be prompted for to add a new account or you can click the File menu and choose "Add Account" and then continue.

  1. At the "Add Account" screen, choose Manual setup or additional server types
  2. Click the Next button

  1. Next you need to type the Exchange "Server" name
  2. Then your "User Name"
  3. Now click the "More Settings..." button

  1. Click the "Connection" tab.
  2. Tick the "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" box.
  3. Click the "Exchange Proxy Settings..." button.

  1. Type your Exchange Proxy server address.
  2. Tick the "Only connect to proxy servers..." box.
  3. Enter "msstd:" followed by the Exchange Proxy server address.
  4. Tick the "On fast networks, connect using..." box.
  5. From the list of authentication options, ensure "Basic Authentications" is selected.
  6. Click the "OK" button.

Click OK to close the Microsoft Exchange settings and return to the Add Account Wizard

  1. Click the Check Name button and when prompted enter your username and password.
  2. If accepted your "Username" will be underlined to indicate everything has been accepted, click Next to continue.

Click Finish and you can now Start Microsoft Outlook.  You will be prompted for your username and password again:

  1. Type your username and password.
  2. If you are the sole user of the PC and your account is protected from unauthorised use, tick the "Remember my credentials" box.
  3. Click OK.

After a few moments your Mailbox will open and mail will (if present) begin to appear.
