How to log into CJSM for the first time

The first time you log in to Criminal Justice Secure Mail (CJSM) system there will be a few quick security matters that will need to be dealt with.  In this short article we guide you through this process.

Introduction

The first time you log in to Criminal Justice Secure Mail (CJSM) system there will be a few quick security matters that will need to be dealt with.  In this short article we guide you through this process.

Before you begin

Before you can log into CJSM you must read the following to reduce the chances of your access being disrupted in the future.

To login to CJSM for the first time you will need to have:

  • A CJSM username
  • A CJSM password

If you do not have these or cannot remember them, you should contact us so we can issue you with these details.

New password

When you log in for the first you will be prompted to choose a new password and provide the answers to 3 secuity questions.  Having these in minded before you log in for the first time is recommended.

Your new password will need to be at least 10 characters long and include at least three of the following:

  • Uppercase letters
  • Lowercase letters
  • A number
  • A non-alphabetic character

Security Questions

Finally you will be asked to provide the answers to three security questions

  1. Your mothers maiden name
  2. Your Town or City of Birth
  3. Your first School

Note the answers to these security questions are:

  • Case sensitive
  • Cannot contain spaces or punctuation symbols
  • Must be between 4 and 16 characters long

First Login

To log into CJSM you should open your web browser and enter the following address to go to (you can also click on this link):

http://www.cjsm.net

On the right-hand side of the CJSM Home Page is the login area.  Type your CJSM username and CJSM password in the appropriate boxes and click the Login button.

Warning if you enter the login details incorrectly 3 times your CJSM account will be automatically locked and you will need to contact us to have it unlocked.

Create a new password

Once you have successfully logged in for the first time you will be prompted to choose a new password.

Type the password you just used to login , then type a new password and confirm that password and finally click the Change Password button .

Bear in mind the requirements for the new password .

Confirm your Personal Details

You will now be asked to confirm your personal details.  Make any changes necessary to your job title, description etc. but do not change the Non-secure eMail Address and when finished, click the Continue button.

Provide answers to the Security Questions

Finally you will now be prompted to provide answers to 3 security questions.  These will be used to verify your identity should your password need to be reset in the future.

Enter the answers to each question and when completed click the Submit Answers button.

Please note answers are:

  • Case sensitive
  • Cannot contain spaces or punctuation symbols
  • Must be between 4 and 16 characters long.

Finished

After successfully setting a new password and your security questions you will be take to your CJSM home page.  Depending on the type of CJSM account you have you can manage your Email (mailbox accounts only) or search the CJSM system.

It is recommended that you now log out of CJSM and log back in again just to be sure you have set your chosen password successfully.

Before you go...

You will be asked to change your CJSM password every 90 days and we recommend you do this in advance of the advised date. If you password is not changed on time the account will be disabled and you will need to contact us so we can re-enable it again for you.

If you forget your password and lock your account, again you will need to contact us.

It is therefore recommended that you choose a password that is easy for you to remember and that you change your password when requested otherwise you could find yourself without access to your CJSM account at a crucial time.
